Someone once wrote "difficulties come like a thief in the night." They come unannounced, and when you least expect them. They even come in bunches at times. Our peace of mind and our sense of stability are often the victims of the struggles that invade us. We even feel God’s absence more than His presence. We know He is in control, but where is He now?If we were honest with ourselves, we would admit that our sense of stability is really based on how things are going around us such as job security, bank accounts, relationships, or how well the nation is doing. Look where we are today. We live in troublesome times. Stocks are down, joblessness is on the rise, homes are being foreclosed on and the cost of living keeps going up.
What have we learned from this experience? It seems to me that if anything, we have come to the conclusion that no one is insulated from being the object of hard times. Furthermore, to trust in what we have, can see, and what we can feel is the wrong place to put our confidence. We need something, or someone, that will sustain us in all phases of life. That person is God. Even if we are confused at times, He is still the one who will give us peace of mind.
Come visit with us Sunday.
