For the past several weeks I have focused my sermons for the church on the life of David, the great kingof Israel. It was said of this shepherd boy who became king, “he was a man after God’s ownheart.” You would expect that here was a man who watched how he behaved and how he spoke. You would expect him to be the epitome of what a child of God should be. In Hebrews 11, he ismentioned as a man of faith. Yet, David had his faults. In fact, a good study of his life will show just how many faults he had.
God never hid from the readers of His word, the many imperfections of His people. Eventhe great ones like Moses, Jacob, Abraham along with David and others had tremendousdifficulties. As you read about those people, you come away with a better understanding of how God uses imperfect individuals to accomplish His plan. But, does God see imperfections?
In 2nd Chronicles chapter 7 and verse 17, we find these words spoken by God to Solomon“As for you, if you walk before me as your father David did . . .” We see David’s imperfections, but God saw a man of faith, not his weaknesses. That gives me hope and I hope you get God’s message.
Come to church this Sunday.
