Minute Message 12/24/11 - "Christmas" - by Norman Russell
You are probably reading this on Christmas Eve. I hope your shopping is done and you can relax for a day or two. Tomorrow is Christmas. Presents will be opened and dinner prepared. But it is also Sunday-a day of worship. It is a time when God’s people come together to glorify God. We give thanks for His blessings and His generous grace which He pours out on all.
It will also be a time of celebrating the Christ. Jesus came into our world for the purpose of providing salvation to all humanity as well as showing us who God really is. Let’s face it, our concept of God is not always what it should be and Jesus came to correct that.
I am thankful for this time of year because people’s attention is turned toward someone who really matters. He was not a philosopher, or a politician and, neither was he, a radical individual, intent on over throwing the government. He was born in an obscure stable, in a town of little significance and raised in a place that had a poor reputation. But, He was God in human flesh and that is all that matters.
Come worship with us Sunday.
Norm Russell
