Change of Heart
By Mark Magill on Feb 10, 2012 | In Minute
God, Jesus, and Biblical writers have all been used to sanction political agendas or some behavior that is out of step with what God has revealed. Jesus, and those who penned God’s word were not political activists. There were social practices during their day that are appalling. However Jesus did not engage in politics and neither did He become a proponent for forced changes of social conduct.
This is not to say He was apathetic to the injustices and unfair treatment of people. Jesus
knew that the answer to that which was so sinful was a change of heart. You can force people to do (or not do) certain things, but it will only be temporary. You can pass laws that forbid behaviors, but that will not make the problem go away.
What is the answer to all of the ills of society and is it possible for us to change things in
our world? If you read the sermon on the mount found in Matthew chapters 5-7 there is one theme that runs through the message Jesus delivered: There must be a change of one’s heart. The only thing that will change the heart is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Want a better world? Change your heart.
Come see us Sunday.
