Dreams and Courage

My wife and I had the pleasure last month of going through the Oregon Trail interpretive Center in Baker City, Oregon. It was a most fascinating experience and I encourage everyone who has never seen that display, to go. Take your children, they will never have a greater opportunity to learn history m such a graphic way.

One thing that struck me was that they mentioned there were so many deaths on the trail that it amounted to one grave every 80 yards. How is it that those people, faced with so many uncertainties, could keep going? I think you can sum it all up in two words-dreams and courage

Those people came with dreams of a new life. Some were wanting to start over, others were wanting to leave a life behind while others saw it as an opportunity to finally make it on their own. Whatever their reasons for going, they went. They faced untold obstacles that for the faint of heart would have caused them to give up.

You have to admire people with dreams and courage. It takes both elements to live. That is what it takes to live as a Christian-dreams of eternity and courage to keep on keeping on. How are you doing?
