Assumptions

Will the price of gas decline? No one really knows the answer to that question. Senators do their yelling, screaming and posturing, but things have not changed. People write letters to the editor, but nothing changes. Accusations of greed and price fixing echo throughout the news media, but nothing changes.

No one knows why things are the way they are. It is all a part of our way of life. We depend on the oil industry to keep us moving and living. I imagine that we would be in a real state of chaos if suddenly we found ourselves without fuel to drive our cars or to heat our homes. We need to admit, we have always assumed that we could drive up to the pump and fill our tanks. We are a nation of conveniences. When we want it, we get it, no matter the cost.

Just as we have taken fuel, water, electricity and other things for granted, we do the same with God. We are not unlike ancient Israel who called upon God when they were in misery and soon forgot Him when things were going well. God will not be treated with such disrespect. Let us never presume upon His kindness.

Come see us Sunday.
