Choose Words Carefully

Sometimes it is best to not respond to criticisms or other situations before putting your mind in motion. Too many of us have become guilty saying things in haste only to later regret what was said. I am sure the president’s comment about OB-GYN’s practice has been something he has regretted, and probably laughed about.

Preachers are just as guilty. One minister, in the heat of his sermon showing Jesus’ love and concern for the outcast stated, "Jesus ate and slept with the prostitutes and sinners." He has never forgotten that statement and there are those who make sure he doesn’t.

Those incidents are harmless and, for some, humorous. It is not harmless or humorous when we say things to our children without first considering the consequences. I wonder how many children feel unloved, unwanted, or unaccepted because of something said in the heat of an argument? How many of you who are reading this are carrying with you scars that have been left over from childhood experiences in which you were abused verbally? I want you to know, God loves you and as your Father, would never treat you that way.

Come see us Sunday.
