Shattered

(Subtitle: Foolish Decisions)

Their careers are over. The Oregonian newspaper (Portland, OR)  reported that four generals would retire from the military because of the scandal that took place in an Iraqi prison. They no doubt had visions of moving up in rank and possibly becoming chairman of the Joint Chief of staff. However, because of one incident, their careers are finished. They will not be punished as we think of punishment. Instead they will live the remainder of their lives with the thoughts of what might have been and will have to live with the shame that went with their involvement in the scandal.

How many careers have been ruined, marriages destroyed, dreams shattered or loving relationships broken because someone, in a moment of indiscretion, did something foolish? As someone well said, "Act first, think second, regret forever."

God will not rebuild someone’s career, or reverse the consequences of foolish decisions. He will, however, forgive the individual for their actions and give them a hope for a brighter tomorrow and an eternity with Him. God is in the business of remaking people, and He wants you to give your life to Him so He can do wonders in you.

Come see us Sunday.
