Minute Message : Yours to Keep Publication Date : 10/19/96 Computer glitches are not uncommon. Sometimes it can be a hair raising experience. Imagine the shock that came over Jeff Ferrera when he called First National Bank of Chicago and found out that his account balance was $924,844,208.32. To say he was shocked is to put it mildly. Jeff, a computer technician at Zenith Electronics, began to weigh his options. Some of his friends suggested he buy himself a new identity on the Caymen Islands. He even thought about putting his millions into a short-term account, earning a few thousand dollars in interest and then returning the $924.8 million to the bank in a few days. As it turned out, he needn't have worried. The bank spotted the error and by 1 A.M. on the morning of May 18 everything had been cleared up. As great as it might seem to use to have $924.8 million deposited in our account, we know it would only be temporary. The bank would find the error and it would have to be returned. God has made available a gift of far greater value than the $924.8 million. In fact, that amount or any other amount would not be sufficient to purchase the gift. Eternal life is given by God and the amazing thing is, you don't have to return it and neither can anyone take it from you. Norman Russell 2761 Broadway North Bend, Oregon USA 97459
