Minute Message : Twenty Years of Anger Publication Date: November 1996 A little more than a month ago, Spiro Agnew died. For many he was nothing more than a memory that made its way to the front page for the last time. Mr. Agnew was the former Vice President [of the United States] under Richard Nixon. He resigned his office under suspicion of wrong-doing while he was a governor. He claimed his innocence to the moment of his death. The one thing that troubled me as I read his story said: "He withdrew from political life... working quietly as a business man and nursing his anger for 20 years over his feeling that Nixon had sacrificed him in an effort to survive the Watergate scandal." Twenty years of anger! The cause of death was not released, but I wonder to what extend his anger affected his life and ultimately his health? Perhaps we will never know, but Jesus told us a story about a man who could not forgive. In the story, He gives a vivid description of how anger and failure to forgive destroys a person mentally, physically, and more importantly spiritually. Do you need to forgive someone? Maybe a former mate, business partner, parent for former friend. Do it for your own good. Will I see you tomorrow? Norman Russell 2761 Broadway North Bend, Oregon USA 97459
