1.  LIFE IS

Life is what we make of it,
Touched with the sense of
"we can't ourselves make of it",
And so we choose to partake of it
By humbly asking God to take of it,
And make of it,
Exactly what he will!

            "Humble yourselves in the
sight of God, and he will lift you
       up."   (Jas. 4:10)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

2.  PRAYER

May the Lord come speedily to your side,
  showing his little daily miracles
    of restoration and wonderment.
May you feel his nearness and his care,
as he draws your heart to him.

"With my soul have I desired
thee in the night: yea, with my
spirit within me will I seek thee
       early... "   (Isa. 26:9a)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

3.  THE WORK I WANT TO SEE

Unfinished work, you are not yet!
But I hope you are to be.
I hope you shall express
The God-gifts meant for me.
O Holy Spirit, come, inspire
This dream I drew with boldness;
Yet first, put my love for God:
May it never turn to coldness.

"...That the Lord thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thy
       hands."   (Deut. 24:19c)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

4.  HE IS

Jesus is victor
He is higher
He is lovelier:
    The spirit of peace.
Jesus is leader
He is holier:
    He bids my strivings cease.

            "Hearken unto me, my people;
and give ear unto me, O my nation:
for a law shall proceed from me,
and I will make my judgment to
rest for a light of the people."
         (Isa. 11:4)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

5. TARRY

Tarry with Jesus.  Rest in him.  He
is enough.  Sometimes it may not seem like
Jesus is more than enough.  But let us
abandon our limitations, and look to the
"more" that he is.

"Tarry in the city until you
are fully clothed with God's own
       special empowerment."
         (Luke 24:49b MM paraphrase)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

6.  MY OFFERING

Jesus, I offer up my life to you
That you may "make things new";
Fill me with your holy breath
That causes me to walk anew;
Dear Lord, I want to serve you more,
And come before your face,
I can only do this Lord, through you,
Because of your limitless grace.
Oh lift me up to higher things,
And set my feet above,
That I may walk with you each hour,
And radiate your love.
Let me not walk the lower way,
Nor stumble on the plain,
But be to me my Rock and Wall,
To my abounding gain.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my
feet, and a light unto my path."
         (Ps. 119:105)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

7. TEACH

(The Lord says:)
Teach people of me
And talk of me
And look to me
And pray to me
And live in me:
Lo!, I will make you whole.

            "Wilt thou be made whole?"
            (Jn. 5:6b)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

8.  GOD RESPONDS

God always responds to our condition.
Are we afraid?  Tearful or hurt or broken?
Are we in trouble, in need of guidance and
protection?  Are we feeling sorry for
ourselves?  Or beset with weakness?

God is responding to our need -- even
when we are unable to see or feel any
signs of his care.  Even if we don't know
how to keep up our hopes that help is on
the way, he is still at work.

"Thanks be unto God for his
      unspeakable gift."  (II Cor. 9:15)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

9.  A MIGHTY GOD

Supposing GOD did for us only the
very least that a mighty and all powerful
God could do?  Even that would be enough
to completely defeat the enemy of our soul
who longs to snatch us away.  However, God
never promised us just his "least."  He
has promised us his very best.  And that
is what he is working out in our lives.

"Oh Lord my God, how very many
       wonderful works you have shown us;
and you never stop thinking about
us.  No one else can compare to
you.  We couldn't begin to count
all you have done for us."
          (Ps. 40:5  MM paraphrase)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

10.  WHEN I FORGOT, GOD DIDN'T!

Each day brings new little miracles,
Some so small I forget to thank you, Lord.
I forgot to thank you when
I didn't get sick after someone coughed
 right in my face, spreading germs about;
But you protected me, keeping evil out.

I never thought to thank you for the time
you sent the smile of friend to cheer me,
To let me feel you near me.
It was so ordinary a happening,
I never even thought to thank you
For this miracle straight from you.

For the times we traveled safely,
For the times when good food
            was close at hand,
For the loyalty of a friend's stand,
All these things I forgot
              to thank you for.
But each was a miracle from you, Lord.

"And I [the Lord], behold, I
       establish my covenant with you."
          (Gen. 9:9a)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

11.  LET ME RECEIVE

Let me receive each day as a miracle,
Let me be "looking" for miracles in all I
see and think and feel and do;
Only so, Lord, will I be reminded fully of
you.

"Make a joyful noise unto the
Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord
       with gladness: come before his
       presence with singing."
          (Ps. 100:1-2)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

12.  GLORY, FALL ON ME

The Glory of God is inexhaustible.
      It is for me.
Fall on me, glory of God.
Immerse and en-shimmer me.
Loose me from all things that hinder me.
Free me to become the person God planned
all along for me to be.
Our generation, Lord, has hopes to see
  a mighty move of God
(perhaps even the greatest move in
history);
Let that inexhaustible expression
  of your wonderfulness
           imprison all doubt,
        and set me wholly free.
May I be impregnated by your love,
          immersed in your immensity.
Set loose the improbable me!

"Greater is he [God] that is
in me than he that is in the world."
          (I Jn. 4:4b)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

13.  I AM A GOOD LORD

I gave myself as a ransom for the
people.  You are my people.  I am your
God.  Draw nigh to me.  I will heal your
broken hearts.  I will fill your lips with
praise.  I will fill your lives to
overflowing.  Put your hand in mine.

I am a good Lord.  I understand your
humanness, your questions and the doubts
that come crowding in.  But I am mightier
than your thoughts.  And my ways are above
you.  I will lead you with my hand, my
right hand of righteousness, and I will
fill your hearts with my love.  For I am
the Lord.  Is anything too difficult for
me?

"Draw nigh to him and he will
draw nigh to you."  (Jas. 4:8a)
 (c) 1995 & 2009 by Marilee Miller

14.  A CELEBRATION

Hats flying in the air, banners waving,
                           horns blaring
  in merry style, "halleluliahs" ringing:
a ticker tape parade worth sharing.
God's mercy to us is well worth having:
So yes, let there be a burst of singing,
           and mighty sense of belonging,
                  with His grace ongoing;
For God-with-us is truly "in" us, holding
                   our hearts, inspiring
                     many well-springing
hopes: He gives cause for our
                            celebrating.

            "He brought me to his
       banqueting table, and his banner
over me was love."   (SSol. 2:4)
